This page is about the retired house & apartments. For its successor, see Dream Homes.
Houses & Apartments were buildings in Jailbreak that players could rent to customize, live in, start a Crew, throw parties in, or, if one were to play on the Police team, raid other apartments in addition to the above.
Overview[]
Apartments were first added in the Public BETA Release Update, with some more added in the July 2017 Update. As of the Oceans/Ships Live Update, many were removed, leaving only 3 to rent out. In the April 2021 Update, all said 3 apartments were revamped with new interiors, and 5 of the houses could now be rented and customized in the Mountainside Town.
The higher the quality and size of the House/Apartment, the more it cost to rent. The apartments in the Rising City ranged in price from 5,000 to 10,000, and the houses in the Mountainside Town ranged from 3,500 to 25,000. Previously you had to pay rent every in-game day (Every 16 minutes) but as of the Homes & Apartments / Season 3 Update, you only have to pay rent once per every server you joined.
As of the Dream Homes Update all existing Houses and apartments were removed and replaced with 5 new Dream Homes. In the update, the VIP confetti gun was also removed.
Features[]
Crews[]
- Main article: Crews
The Homes & Apartments / Season 3 Update introduced Crews to apartments. When you rent an apartment, you are also going to create a Crew. There is a new "Crew Settings" icon above the "Cash" icon on your GUI. If you click on it then you can customize your Crew's name (which must be no longer than 16 characters), add members to your Crew and toggle Build Mode for your members. Crew members with Build Mode toggled on have the permission to add and delete furniture in your apartment, which will save both for your apartment and the member's apartment who added / removed the furniture in yours. All Crew members have a unique white coloured player marker to identify them from the rest of your team's members.
Every Crew member will spawn in the Crew leader's house. If the Crew Leader leaves the game, then the oldest Crew member to be added into the Crew will become the new leader of it. If the new leader edits their previous leader's apartment, then that furniture will replace all the furniture in their apartment.
Raids[]
Alongside with the Crews, the Homes & Apartments Update introduced Raids to allow Police officers to break into a crew's apartment/house and arrest their members if there's any inside, or to steal cash from their vault if there is one with cash inside. When a cop breaks into the apartment a Notification will be sent to all the crew members telling that their house is being raided, and another notification to all the cops to help out with the raid.
Furniture[]
Current[]
Ever since the Homes & Apartments / Season 3 Update, you can buy Furniture in the Store for cash or get exclusive furniture items for reaching levels in various seasons. You can access all your furniture in the Inventory and click on the one you wanna place in your apartment. You can place the furniture with your cursor and rotate it "Left" [Q] or "Right" [E]. Different furniture can be placed on the floor, walls or the ceiling. Floor items cannot be placed too close to a wall to prevent players from blocking entrances. There's furniture items and defense items, furniture items are used for decoration but can also be used as obstacles, players can destroy furniture by shooting it with different weapons (Except for Sword, Baton, Sniper Rifle, Rocket Launcher, Grenade), when the furniture reaches zero health it will disappear with an explosion that doesn't damage players. Defense items are used for gameplay - either for damaging the enemy team or earning cash. Only the Criminal team is allowed to place defense items. Currently there is only one item for each task - turrets for defending the apartment and vaults for earning cash, but more are expected to come soon.

Ever since the Season 5 Update, the Confetti Gun got brought back to apartments, being on the wall near the door of every house/apartment and spraying confetti from the ceiling if the owner of the apartment clicks it having a VIP Gamepass. There is also a returning Radio item, which plays audio for everyone in the apartment if the owner has the Vehicle Stereo Gamepass and has a radio audio playing.
As of the Season 5 Update, Apartments now save all the furniture placed in them whenever the owner leaves.
Previous[]
Before the Homes & Apartments / Season 3 Update you could only customize furniture on pre-set locations in the apartment, with only pre-set furniture items in different locations, but you could also edit each furniture item's colour. You only needed to buy a furniture item with a selected colour once to use it in multiple spots in your apartment. The default colour for all the furniture items was white. There was a pre-set Kitchen in every apartment that had a Radio with a Confetti gun on top of a table, the Radio could play audio if you had the Vehicle Stereo Gamepass, entered a Roblox Audio ID in it and pressed "Play", and the Confetti Gun would spray confetti from the ceiling if the owner of the apartment has a VIP Gamepass and clicks the gun.
